This is a story of a long search for an enigmatic ancestor, which leads the author on a spiritual, mystical journey through time and achingly familiar landscapes. Along the way appear personalities and characters from both the physical and spiritual worlds, who serve as guides and teachers. On this geneaological adventure, the author encounters a close relative, a man of another race, and together they set out to find mutual ancestors that link them to the black slaves of a Tory pastor, to a Narragansett tribal leader, to the elusive son of a prominent white family, and to an endearing mixed-race grandmother who played a role in bringing them together. This is a story of self-discovery, a story of ancestry, place, and race. This is an American story in red, white, and black.

A Look at History By Amazon Customer A good look at how tracing your genealogy can make the mysteries of the past make sense, and change your present thinking. Well written, and while possibly only pertinent to a few, a great footprint for others tracing their pasts.

Unknown New England History By sara campbell This is going to appeal to New Englanders who know the Connecticut River Valley, as well as anyone who appreciates the thrill of an ancestor hunt. I love the way he tells the story of his process to unravel the complicated history of his family. The voices he gives his ancestors are very powerful. Photos and charts help to bring it home.
