The Bonds, Broken & Silent Miniseries is book four of the Fate - Fire - Shifter - Dragon series and follows Fifth of Blood. Bonds Broken & Silent also contains the bonus short story, Dmitri and the Mad Monk. Klepto Shifters. Chaos Ghouls. And a young woman running for her life... Daisy Reynolds might be taller and more athletic than the average seventeen-year-old, but she doesn't make waves. Hiding from her klepto mom's terrifying Shifter ex-boss makes an invisible life necessary. But when a Burner--a chaos ghoul--gets a whiff of Daisy, hiding turns into running for her life. Daisy soon realizes the conflicts around her run deeper than nasty ghouls and mean Shifters looking to beat up her mom. Future-seeing Fates want a piece of her, too. But some fates cannot be escaped unless you have courage... and an unlikely ally.

Bonds Broken & Silent: The Complete Miniseries (Fate Fire Shifter Dragon) (Volume 4), by Kris Austen Radcliffe

From the Author Q: Rysa Torres, the main character of the Fate - Fire - Shifter - Dragon series, has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). What inspired you to write such an unlikely heroine?A: I wrote GAMES OF FATE for my daughter, a real young woman with real ADHD. The FFSD universe may be Urban Fantasy/ Science Fiction, but Rysa's anxiety, her hyperactivity, and her fractured and flitting way of seeing the world are all true to life -- and not attributes of someone you'd expect to save the world.A girl with ADHD can be a hero, too. She may not start out plucky, and may have farther to go in her journey, but don't discount the passion and creativity of someone with ADHD. She can save the world, and in the FFSD universe, she does.Q: How did you decide to include American Sign Language in the Fate - Fire - Shifter - Dragon universe?A: I have a limited understanding of ASL; a family member who is not deaf but is nonverbal uses ASL. It was because of this family member that I realized the nonverbal dragons could also use ASL as a way to communicate. Q: Which Fate - Fire - Shifter - Dragon titles are FREE when I subscribe to Kris Austen Radcliffe's newsletter?A: GAMES OF FATE (book 1), CONPULSIO (an FFSD novella), and BONDS (book 4.1). Paste the following URL into your browser: tinyurl.com/krisaustenradcliffeQ: How many books are in the Fate - Fire - Shifter - Dragon series, and what is their order?A: GAMES OF FATE, FLUX OF SKIN and FIFTH OF BLOOD (books 1-3) make up ACTIVATION: THE COMPLETE FIRST TRILOGY. These three novels are tightly tied together and each picks up on the heels of the previous book. It's best to read them in order.Together, the novellas BONDS, BROKEN and SILENT make up book 4. This miniseries introduces Daisy Pavlovich and Gavin Bower (Rysa's friend who appears briefly at the beginning of GAMES OF FATE) into the FFSD universe.ALL BUT HUMAN and MEN AND BEASTS (books 4 and 5) make up the REDEMPTION DUOLOGY, and like the novels of ACTIVATION, are tightly tied together; and again, it's best to read them in order.Readers may start with either Rysa's story (GAMES OF FATE) or Daisy's story (BONDS). It is best, though, to be caught up with both heroines before starting book 5, ALL BUT HUMAN, where Rysa's and Daisy's paths converge. Also part of the FFSD series: CONPULSIO (a Roman Era novella), plus the short stories "Pop Rocks", "Cinder to Dust", and "Dmitri and the Mad Monk".The series, in order:(1) Games of Fate(2) Flux of Skin(3) Fifth of Blood(plus Conpulsio, Pop Rocks, and Cinder to Dust)(4.1) Bonds(4.2) Broken(4.3) Silent(5) All But Human(6) Men and Beasts(7) The Burning World (coming soon)Box sets:(1) Activation (2) Bonds Broken & Silent(3) Redemption (coming soon)Q:What genre is the Fate - Fire - Shifter - Dragon series?A: FFSD is a New Adult Urban Fantasy Romance story within a Science Fiction universe. Dragons, Fates, Shifters, ghouls called Burners, immortal warriors, Roman emperors--they're all here, along with a smattering of nanobots and, well, new tech.

Everything pops with a vivid sense of reality that draws you to it. Her writing is simultaneously eloquent and snarky. By writing in short, poignant sentences Radcliffe adds an extra sense of urgency to an already suspenseful tale. Radcliffe throws classic style out the window, telling her wildly creative story in her own way and keeping her readers completely captivated throughout. The way that she combines history with the present and a whole lot of her own imagination creates a riveting tale that you won’t be able to put down. She has also created an extremely well developed world that is backed by a solid and well formulated mythological basis. I love how personified the Dragons are, unlike so many other stories where dragons are simply beats. It makes them easy to identify with and relate too, while allowing the reader to see things from their POV. It also allows the reader to fully immerse themselves into this phenomenal world. Not only is this a fantastically magical story, this novel is also an in-your-face social commentary that really makes you stop and think. I appreciate the fact that this novella is complementary to the Activation trilogy of the series, while also standing alone. I found myself getting excited over each and every new detail revealed.I love the sense of Daisy’s character that you get in this novella. By having Daisy tell her own story you not only get to see who she is today, but how she got to where she is. Getting up close and personal with Gavin was similarly revealing. I found myself really feeling a connection to these two. You also get an intriguing look at the dragons, getting to know them outside of the Activation series. The sneek peek at the Seraphim was also intriguingly cliffhanger-esque. Radcliffe gives you a peek into many histories while developing certain characters in the present. It combines into a heady mix that will make you feel part of this world. You also come away with a much more intense understanding of the Fates & how they work. It was quite enlightening. If I thought I was addicted to the world of Fate~Fire~Shifter~Dragon before reading this novella I was woefully wrong. This mini-trilogy took it to an entirely new level. Radcliffe melds reality and imagination together in a manner so seamless that you’ll find yourself walking through the pages alongside her characters. I couldn’t put it down for a second. As a master storyteller Radcliffe merges myth with reality, history with the present, romance with action into a story that one cannot help but love. This series was an emotionally intense and a wild ride. It brought tears to my eyes but also left me laughing. It is definitely a must read series. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Bryant Bonds: The Silence Cycle Episode One (Fate ~ Fire ~ Shifter ~ Dragon, #4.1)Daisy is a bloodhound shifter telling a story about before she activated and her first encounter with Burners. This story is so good. Kris Austen Radcliffe is an exceptional writer, and I am so happy to read anything new by her. . Kris Austen Radcliffe is not your typical cookie-cutter fiction writer. She writes outside the box. This story draws you in immediately, the pacing is spot on, the characterization is interesting. I cared about Daisy and wanted to know more about her. We learn more about Rysa's childhood in this prequel. Loved this story set in the Fate/Fire/Shifter/Dragon universe. 5 stars. The Silence Cycle Episode Two: Broken (Fate ~ Fire ~ Shifter ~ Dragon #4.2)Daisy's mother stole a talisman from Fates and they want it back REALLY bad. So badly do they want it back, that they don't care who they have to kill or what they have to do to get it back. Daisy is on a quest to find her wayward mother, her unknown father, get some killer Fates off her back and meet some dragons. I love Kris Austen Radcliffe's work. She is such an amazing writer. Her Fate/Fire/Shifter/Dragon series is SO good. I like her writing style, the pacing is spot on, the characters are interesting and well rounded. It is sad that more people haven't heard of her books. She is seriously that good and too many people are missing out. Ladon is in this book. Yay! Daisy gets herself into some scary situations and I was seriously worried about her. This book immediately draws you and doesn't let go. 5 stars.Silent: The Silence Cycle Episode Three (Fate ~ Fire ~ Shifter ~ Dragon, #4.3)Rysa's deaf friend Gavin witnesses her attacked by Burners. As with all of Kris Austen Radcliffe's books, this is just amazingly written. I really like her style with the short, choppy, adjective filled sentences that set the tone and draw you into the Fate/Dragon/Shifter world. She has such a way with descriptions. The story is exciting and fast-paced. I really care about these characters. They are sympathetic and interesting. Another great Kris Austen Radcliffe book. 5 stars.

New characters, new direction, but continuing to build a now-familiar world By Lilly I fell in love with the Fate-Fire-Shifter-Dragon universe reading the first three books of the series, and I admit I was a little taken aback when I started on this "miniseries" of three novellas that make up book four. I was expecting to continue with the storyline I loved --- Rysa, Ladon, Dragon, and their growing together as a unit. To shift to Gavin and Daisy (who the heck is Daisy??) was not what I expected or wanted. But boy, am I glad I kept reading anyway. I quickly learned to love Daisy - her woundedness and strength, her insecurity and determination, her protectiveness. I originally struggled with liking Gavin's character because of his impatience with Rysa's ADHD behaviors ... but once I got to know him, he became a real member of the "family."The wealth of information you absorb about the FFSD world is amazing. The backstory and history is so well built, and gives you so much understanding about "current" events that the whole series simply makes more sense. I loved getting to know Mira and Sandro! Seeing Ladon, Dragon, Ivan, Dmitri, and so many other characters from Daisy's POV adds a new dimension to what you've already seen of them. "Silent" flows perfectly into the beginning of book 5, All But Human, and adding Rysa, Ladon, and Dragon to Gavin and Daisy is a smooth and organic transition.Once again Kris Austen Radcliffe has exceeded my expectations and written a set of stories I'll return to again and again.*Note: I received a free copy of the box set in exchange for an honest review.*
