About the Author Dawn Brower holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, a Master of Arts in Education, and is currently working on a Master of Arts in Liberal Arts with concentrations in Literature, History, and Sociology. She works as a substitute teacher and enjoys the flexibility it gives her to concentrate on her other endeavors. Growing up she was the only girl out of six children. She is a single mother of two teenage boys; there is never a dull moment in her life. Reading books is her favorite hobby. There is nothing like a nice glass of wine and a good book to relax with at the end of the day. There are always stories inside her head; she just never thought she could make them come to life. That creativity has finally found an outlet.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A WWII story with a magical twist By ARC Broken Pearl is an interesting look at Rebecca, a nurse serving in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii during WWII. She's always been an empath, but her talents are becoming stronger. She meets a man named Joel, who's really her guardian angel. He teaches her to develop her power further and feelings develop between them as well. Rebecca is engaged to a soldier on the USS Arizona and very much in love with him, so she ignores her feelings for Joel.When tragedy strikes, Rebecca tries to cut herself off from all the emotions around her, including her own. If Joel can't save her, she may destroy herself.Dawn Brower provides a fascinating backdrop for this story of being true to yourself. I loved the characters in Broken Pearl.

Not being born until 1944, I was unaware of what the war meant and how it took its toll on the lives of servicemen and the dedication and love a nurse can show while caring for the wounded. Rebecca is a nurse who realizes after tragedy strikes in her own life that she has special powers. This was a heart warming story, and the author did a wonderful job explaining the scenes as they occurred on that dreadful day in Pearl Harbor in 1941. Look forward to Ms. Brower's next book.
