Despite being nine months into a zombie apocalypse, life had taken a fortunate turn for Mike Robson and Natalie Barzagan. Not only had their group retrieved the vaccine for the Zombie Virus from the underground military facility at Site R, they had found love with each other. That optimism is short-lived. When the group returns to its camp, a rape gang has destroyed the compound, murdered their friends, and kidnapped one of the young women. With everything they have achieved now destroyed, Robson makes the fateful decision to split his group. As he organizes a desperate attempt to rescue their friend from the rape gang, Natalie leads her Angels through a rotter-infested nation to bring the vaccine to the government-in-exile on Omaha. Both groups soon discover that everything that has happened to them up to now cannot compare with the horrors they are about to encounter. “With Rotter World, Scott M. Baker pulls out all the stops in a zombie thriller that is brutal, violent and terrifying. Definitely not for the faint-hearted.” —New York Times bestseller Jonathan Maberry, author of Patient Zero “Think there are no new or original zombie authors? Think again. Scott M. Baker provides an exciting voice and fresh outlook on the undead. Fun, compulsive reading.” —Brian Keene, author of The Rising and City of the Dead “Scott M. Baker writes in the tradition of J.L. Bourne and Joe McKinney. Fans of thriller writers like Brad Thor will also find powerful, welcome similarities in Rotter World.” —Scott Kenemore, author of Zen of Zombie “Scott M. Baker has managed to bring together the best of what I love about end of the world, vampire and zombie tales in one glorious story. If you think zombie and vampire stories are overdone and there is not anything new you can do with them, Rotter World proves that theory wrong.” —Peter Schwotzer of Famous Monsters of Filmland

By Jim I won't go into too much detail so as not to spoil any plot points.Rotter Nation picks up immediately after the events of Rotter World, in which a coven of Vampires has teamed up with a band of Humans to survive the zombie apocalypse. The story takes a couple of turns that I didn't see coming, and the last third of the book is so action packed that I read it straight through (into the wee hours of the morning). Baker has a gift for writing action and movement, and his knowledge and research of weapons, vehicles, and even maritime travel not only paints this world in vivid colour, but draws the reader in to that world.

With this next chapter in the series, you make us throw our survival instincts to the wind and happily ‘saddle up’ to return that Undead infested Hellhole you have so deftly created. No more hiding. This time we go out with eyes gleaming and guns blazing.-Mitch Hyman, Writer/Creator of Bubba the Redneck Werewolf.

By Heather Faville The long awaited continuation of Rotter World, by Scott M Baker is finally here and I was privileged enough to be allowed the opportunity for an advanced read in return for a fair and honest review…..and here it is.I thoroughly enjoyed Rotter Nation. #thatisall #theendJust kidding, I have more to say, but I truly did enjoy this book. Rotter Nation picks up as our group, who had gone after the Zombie Virus, returns to their camp. To their horror they find that their “home” has been looted, destroyed and all but one has been murdered. The young woman left alive, Windows, is, unfortunately, taken with the raiders and we can, easily, guess that the fate of the others is more kind and forgiving then what she will be forced to endure. Our leader, Robson, decides to split the group sending Natalie and her Angels to the “government” to get the vaccination into hands that can, hopefully, create more and distribute it, while he takes the rest of the group, including the two remaining vampires, set out to rescue Windows and any other person who was taken by the rape gang.I won’t go into further details of the planning and scheming that plays out as both groups heads their separate ways, because we all know that’s what will be happening. Trust me when I say there are definitely dead ends, undead and various snafus that our groups must contend with and, happily, not everyone makes it out alive. Did she just say ‘happily’? Yep, I love when characters get killed off, especially in a world where rotters walk. It’s realistic…it’s going to happen and sometimes it’s going to happen to the strongest member of the group. (I’m one of those who is waiting, patiently impatiently, for Daryl Dixon to die in The Walking Dead)Much like its predecessor, Rotter Nation, has several characters, nearly all of whom have strong personalities and voices. It was the rare moment where I had to stop and ask myself, ‘which person is this and who’s group do they belong?’. One thing I did notice was that the vampires did not seem to have quite as much of a presence in book two as they did in book one, so I am left to assume book three may give them opportunity to have a fairly solid story line. The visual description of what we were to be “seeing”, as well as, the action sequences were well written and allowed me to feel a part of the action. I loved that there were some very tense moments where I held my breath slightly wondering what would happen. That being said, I will give a word of warning, while there is no graphic details of actual rape, it does happen and it is detailed enough that you get a good mental image of what the women went through, so if that is a touchy area for you, be warned. The ending of Rotter Nation, was not as cleanly tied up as I felt Rotter World was, in that there was a bit more of a cliffhanger ending, but it still had a pretty solid ending. I have mentioned before, I prefer my series to have a fairly solid ending between books. I hate when books that are to be continued end with a major cliffhanger and then the author doesn’t even have the next book started.Rotter Nation is another great book from the mind of Scott M Baker. I am truly looking forward to finding out how the series ends with book three.
