The presentation is very good and easy to understand and follow. The best part is the sample applications with full working code in Github. I bought the book from Google Books when I saw the ebook was selling about $4 less than Amazon. The book covers almost all the topics that a beginner and mid-level needs. I'm already working in ExtJS and I found this book is very useful, especially the sample applications. If you're new to ExtJS you must read this book. Really worth it.

Okay book, but lacking in some areas By PRIDEAFRICA As others have said, it is intended mostly for beginners than may not have used Ext JS before, or like me, last used the framework in its 3.x days. Aside from grammatical errors here and there, and inconsistent code (book says one thing, Github says another, the Sencha API says yet another thing), it is a good starting point. I didn't like how the author did not stick with application design practices in the sample project, or how he did not provide enough detail to set up the projects, or discuss why he used certain techniques in the samples. For example, he failed to mention that charts must be declared in app.json and at least one build done to make the charting stuff work. He also didn't address multi-view applications, routing, and general development principles around the framework (such as SCM, layouts in viewports, modern design alongside classic, producing distributable code, testing, etc).

By Socratees Samipillai This is a good hands-on, practical book if you are beginning with Ext JS. This book does not delve deep into basics of JavaScript, or any other foundation concepts, and I don't see that as a problem. If your intention is to get your Ext JS app running, this is a book you can check out. The price point is something I think might think twice about but if I find it on sale and if I'm beginning to build Ext JS apps, I would pick it up.Disclaimer: The author is my friend, and the publishers gave me a copy for review.
