Especially timely now, as news reports overwhelm us with extreme events involving violence and mayhem, we can use this scholarly and down to earth book to learn from everyday heroes - ordinary people like us who found themselves in life-threatening situations. We can take heart and learn from how they handled it. Thank you Dr. Koff for this book that helps all of us, teachers, parents, police officers, individual citizens get wiser about protecting the physical and emotional well being of our school age children and our communities

By Topaz This is an interesting and very thought provoking book that explores ways people have survived in the face of horrific circumstances. In today’s society where violence is growing and educators need to look to the safety of their students as well as their intellectual growth, it is imperative that a plan be put into place to anticipate the need for survival of students and pupils alike. Examining past success situations and how they were utilized to promote positive outcomes is the first and needed step to prevent needless deaths of our innocent children and educators alike. I would recommend this book as a guide to exam the fortitude of human nature and evaluate ways to handle extreme situations today should they arise. It is a diving platform into discussion and communication on a negative topic that needs addressing.
