Excerpt from The Prescriber: A Dictionary of the New TherapeuticsThrough the courtesy of Messrs. Kenne & Ashwell, my English publishers, I have been enabled to comply with the request of Messrs. Boericke & Tafel to prepare an edition of the Prescriber for publication in the United States. The present volume is the outcome of my revision of the fourth English edition which appeared in 1893. Without altering the scope of the work, I have added to it such matter as later experience and later reading have suggested, and I think it will be found to be well up to date and to include references to all the newer remedies that have stood the test of experience.I must ask my readers to be kind enough to read with care those portions of my Preface to the Third Edition, which I shall quote below, in order that may understand clearly my aim. When I commenced to practise Homoeopathy, now more than twenty years ago, there was no pocket companion of this kind; and the textbooks on homoeopathic therapeutics gave little help in the matter of attenuation, dose and how often to repeat - the very points most wanted by a novice. One of my objects in writing this book was to supply these details.But the last thing I desire is to be dogmatic - except in so far as dogmatism can help a beginner. Saul Clarke's Prescriber is one of the great tools to help anyone make a very good choice of what remedy to take, Other repertories are far more difficult to use and Clarke helps guide you well. He was a very good homeopath and this book should be on every family first aid shelf.Too bad the other reviewers didn't read the book, and use the book. Of course the text was photocopied because if it had been OCRd it would be a terrible mess. The photo copy is as easy to read as the original.

It has a nice cover but the inside of the book is photocopies !Someone photocopied an old book and put a nice new cover on it. I mean copied as in the pages are smaller, have dark places at the sidesand top and some pages even have peoples fingers copied, too ! I paid $20 for this book ! This is the most unprofessional product I haveever purchased. I hope this contents are worthwhile.

When I checked some of the conditions I found that the author's description of the ailments to be helpful. Use of the book is however for those who have knowledge and are qualified in this subject. The listing of herbs and mixtures is not for the average person but again only for those who are propeply trained and qualified.
