And the lengths that they are willing to go to gain that are shocking, to say the least.The line between cultural differences is blurred as Ander joins forces with other allies and friends to fight the mystical tyranny of the Second Order's ruling body and restore the nation to its former glory while garnering peace between the different clans and peoples.The Second Order was action-packed and suspenseful, but also had some deep seated messages that I think come across beautifully.I think that readers of young adult, new adult, and adult fantasy will enjoy taking a walk through Mr. Knudson's imagination. Take a chance on The Second Order.

By Alicia Janowitcz I am not a fan of fantasy, and as I was given this book from the author in exchange for an honest review, I was skeptical. But I was pleasantly surprised and found it to be intriguing and full of action. This is worth a read and I will look for more from this author.

Knudson shows great initiative in researching for this novel. The pace is engaging and makes you want to keep reading. The politics and setting are vast and fascinating. I'd recommend this novel for anyone looking for a quick yet engaging young adult read.The great:It's apparent from the start that the author did their research, and put a lot of effort into, developing a rich, unique, and diverse world. I loved reading about the fantastical flora and fauna, as well as the many ways that humans in this world have developed technologies independently of electricity. The use of ants for light, for instance, and the reaction of water and sodium to create a defensible perimeter, were especially delightful. I left this novel wanting to know even more about how the world works.In addition, Knudson's pacing makes The Second Order a page-turner. While there are some calm before the storm moments, the novel is engaging from beginning to end, and makes room for a sequel.What I'd like to see if there's a sequel:I think this novel could use a second pass from an editor (nothing too serious, though, just little things.) There were some minor grammatical errors, and I found that the writing style improved as the novel went on. It would have been great to see a consistent style throughout the novel, as the second half felt much more fluid than the first. I look forward to seeing how this plays out if there's a sequel.Some of the character dialogue and interactions made their relationships seem a tad rushed, but this is a young adult novel and I think that's pretty standard for the genre. Again, these are really minor opportunities for improvement in a novel that was overall a great read.All in all, I recommend this book!
