About the Author Sylvester Youlo is an orthopedic surgeon, and writer. He is the author of The Boy from Pleebo, his memoir that chronicles his early life from an impoverish small town in the West African country of Liberia, to his journey of years through various refugee camps while, as a teenager, fleeing a brutal civil war in his country, and how he became a top student at an American medical school.

Dr. Youlo takes you in this small coastal city in Africa and make you feel the story unfold. I highly recommend this book.

I last read a story-book over 20 years ago. So I was not sure I would read much of this one. Boy was I wrong!The story is so gripping and the page-turner carries you through these powerful waves of emotions (joyful, angry happy, sad, etc.)I raced through the book so fast - I could not put it down - and craved for more when it ended. Thank you, Doctor Sylvester Youlo, for such masterful story-telling. I can't wait for your next book.
