About the Author Linda Thompson was born in Washington, D. C., and grew up in the Maryland suburbs. Perhaps this accounts for her love of culture and all things historical. She is an East Coast girl through-and-through, who loves the ocean! To her, there is no more soothing sound than the kiss of the surf as it reaches the sand. Linda's love of reading and particularly the Regency Era began during her long bus commutes in junior high school. During her last year in junior high, she was introduced to what would become her two favorite books: Gone With the Wind and Pride and Prejudice. Her first attempt at writing was a sequel to Gone With the Wind at the age of sixteen. Though writing was always something she enjoyed, Linda's career of choice was that of Administrative Assistance. Oddly enough, she always found a need to create a company newsletter for each of her employers. She currently makes her home in Denton, Texas. She has been married to her husband, Jim, for 27 years and has had the privilege of being a stay-at-home mom for her three children for the last seventeen years. You will often find her engrossed in a good book--usually JAFF or other historical fiction. She also loves to bake, cook, scrapbook, dance (She was a classically trained ballet dancer for thirteen years.), and travel. Now the joy of writing fills up much of her time. 23 of 24 people found the following review helpful. Sorry it is a series, an expensive series, but creative By Ethel I enjoyed this book. Unfortunately I didn't notice in the upper part of the information that it is a series. It is not stated in the book summary. I was disappointed when it abruptly came to an end. I would not have paid this much for part of a novel. The reviewer above says it will be 3 parts. If each of them is over $8.00, that is ridiculous. I could purchase almost any hardcover classic/award winning novel for that cost.Other than it being a series, I found the book creative and well written. Miss Bingley and Wickham are over the top, but that is pretty constant in these books. I have read a lot of these stories and just sort of page ahead when the focus is on those characters.

Sweet but didn't hit the mark By J Bennett I enjoyed this book but was glad when I got to the end where I found there is another book that goes along with this one. (Oh my!). There's some nice plot lines here, but quite frankly, I prefer my Mr Darcy to have more character layers. He's so sweet and honorable and such a paragon of virtue that I don't know who could stand living with such a man ... he is truly a man without fault ... and so is Lizzy come to think of it. Good read, but certainly not (IMO) one of the better variations.

Another reader indicated the villains were not at all subtle, and I have to agree they were quite villainous and pretty two dimensional. But, the characters we love were pretty true to canon and the story kept my attention. The one negative with Her Unforgettable Laugh was the same issue we see with many self-published authors: many, many typos.I think many of us are getting too used to free or cheap stories and are not willing to pay the price it really takes for an author to be fairly compensated. I hate to read reviews that rate the story based on the price they were charged. If you can't afford the price, don't buy. If you can afford it and enjoy the story, please don't base your rating on the price. If you don't enjoy a story, spell out why and give the author some honest feedback. Remember that you expect to be fairly compensated for your work.
