I liked we see from Walter, Asebor, Malek and Juzo's POV. I hope we see POVs from Bayland, Grimbald and Nyset perspectives. The fight were bloodily great with people getting stabbed and losing body parts. I loved the magic powers of the Dragon and the Phoenix.Spoilers......We meet Asebor's loyal and murderous allies called The Wretched consisting of Darkthorne, Dressna, Hilanda, Alena, Terar, Marcine and Asebor's loyal servant, Zekes. Malek is working with Asebor and has been controlling King Ezra of Midgaard. Darkthorne gives Asebor Bonesnapper or known as The Chains of the North from the Black Wynches, Asebor gives Bonesnapper to Darkthorne to guard it with his life. Darkthorne gets scolded and injured by Asebor after squabbling with Malek after his failed attempt to kill King Ezra and Malek gets also injured and gets his abilities taken away leaving him mortal. Malek gets attacked by Juzo and gets killed by him by Terar's orders. Juzo gets his blade, Blackout back and we kills Terar and his servants and escaped. Backtrack to the beginning Juzo became a vampire or Death Spawn because of Terar and became his pet. Blackout, Juzo's blade speaks to him telling him he is no longer human.Walter and Nyset were training to use their powers from Malek and Baylan at Malek's home at the Tower of Meditation at Midgaard, as Grimbald was going to be part of the Midgaard Falcon army however, he was declined a chance to. Walter and Nyset's relationship grows but it's not explicitly clear if they are together and Walter got jealous when Malek was around Nyset. During a training session, Malek has Walter and Nyset fight off a Ripper and is killed by Grimbald. I like Walter's dog, Wiggles. I love Bayland, who is an intelligent wizard and loves writing information down and an impressive fighter. I like that Grimbald named his sword Corpsemaker very Grim.King Ezra is a very unlikable King and he treats his advisor like scum and dirt. King Ezra almost got assassinated twice. Walter suspected it was Malek who wanted to kill the King which he was right. Walter and Nyset have an encounter with Skin Flayer and Walter gets poisoned, but is saved by Baylan and Nyset. Walter has an encounter with Malek during the Falcon's send off parade and he kills him. Baylan and the others Malek was actually a shap shifting Metamorphose and the actual Malek fled town. Walter is given Malek's old home as a reward for the King's life. The King sends his army to Breden not knowing they would be facing the Lord of Death and his allies.Walter and his friends encounter a group of Cerumals which they take out. They then encounter Juzo, who scolds Walter and they have a fight injuring his best friend and Juzo runs off. Walter, Nyset, Baylan and Grimbald join in the fight with the Falcon army against the Cerumals and Black Winches and have a bloody battle with the Lord of Death. Nyset, Grimbald and Baylan get injured leaving Walter alone fighting the monsterous demon. Juzo helps towards the end of the fight to protect his friend. Walter asks the Dragon and Phoenix Gods for help to defeat his enemy and they told him a sacrifice and Wiggles sacrifice himself to help Walter kill the Lord of Death. RIP Wiggles. After the battle, Baylan heals Nyset and Walter relocates Grimbald's shoulder with Baylan's assistance. Juzo returns with his friends and they all return to The Tower of Meditation which Walter renames The Lair. I'm worried about Juzo and his struggles with being vampire or Death Spawn. I'm intrigued to see the other members of The Wretched get involved in the next 3 books.

Juzo is a nice twist on a character that is trying to be a better person. Do not mind the editing. Its about the story, if you can't read thru a few wrong words because spellcheck does not pick up meaning, you will live. Still a great story.
