This is a humorous account of paranormals who live during Victorian times in Africa with a shape-shifter bat, lightning god, a ghost for a husband, and a suitor who absorbs power. What more can you ask? Beatrice has talents of her own, she can squint to see the image of paranormal energy in creatures but hates to intrude on other humans. Her handy cane is like a Swiss Army Knife on steroids, and she rides a horse who ate a serpent demon. Can Bee forgive herself for not rescuing her brother from the werewolf who turned him, or for the unfortunate death of her husband? Will she survive another attack by the giant preying mantis? The Victorian dialog is charming and anyone who reads one book will certainly wish to devour them all. There is enough information to read any volume on its own, so get started now.
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great series! By Love2Read I have to say, this book is the most serious of the three, in my opinion. There is still a great story line and the characters are so likeable it was difficult to put this book down once I got started. This is also the shortest of the books so far, only 173 pages so it was a very quick read. Like the other two this story develops around Bee who is a paranormal living in Africa during the 1900's. The quick wit of the characters and their conversations made me chuckle at times but considering the serious nature of this book also made me afraid for them.Great series!

I read all three books in 2 days and am disappointed that I didn't savor them. I liked them so much that I sent a copy of the Gosts of Tsavo to my mom to read. They were very refreshing and kept me in stitches. I almost didn't read them as I thought the first book started out a little silly. I am so glad I gave it try. I can not wait for the next book.
