A rogue satellite disappears off NSA's space radar and falls into Monterey Bay on the California coastline. The Agency's efforts to find the lost satellite are thwarted by a young oceanographer, Matt Cross, who, with his wife, Lindy, a local television reporter, watch the fiery landing from their honeymoon beach picnic and track it to its final resting place, five-hundred feet down in the Monterey Submarine Canyon. Bent on fame and fortune, they retrieve the satellite, examine it, and find an unfathomable object, a satellite sent back in time from our future. Revealing its contents to the American public in a history-making television report, they turn our world upside down and leave it with a life-or-death decision: assassinate a few innocent people or destroy the future of humanity. This fast-paced techno thriller leaves you breathless as you race through its pages, searching for the answer. Based on the Grandfather Paradox, it is not a fantasy but a realistic depiction of an event that could happen tomorrow. Fasten your seat belts and ready yourselves for the trip of a lifetime.

SATELLITE LOST, by JOHN PAUL CATER

From the Author I recently wrote this novel using my memorable two-year residence in Moss Landing several years ago as a backdrop.  A hidden gem on the Monterey Bay coastline, it is a fishing and whale-watching village where time stands still, and seemingly has for decades.  Just a mile out from the Moss Landing harbor is the Monterey Submarine Canyon, a gaping chasm in the ocean floor deeper and larger that the Grand Canyon.  The stark visions of those scenarios in my memories brought out Satellite Lost, a speculative fiction tale of a serendipitous finding that all at once, brings overwhelming elation and uncontrollable fears into the discoverers' lives.  The moral: be careful what you wish for.

The story line is very believable, and has romance, government agents, intrigue, and secrecy. It may take some time to wrap your mind around the various theories presented during the story, but I found it well worth reading (I will probably read it again soon).

Just finished reading the pages of this suspense-filled thought-provoking masterpiece from my favourite writer when it comes to sci-fi. Done like none other than him. Quality same as his work PI DAY DOOMSDAYJohn P. Cater, just like all his other books are worth a second (and fourth..) read,. Only that you'll know the story by then! The pace of the book was fast and the story unpredictable. One moment you feel you know it all, you've found a pattern, but you are wrong yet again. From his clear and vivid 3d-like description, you'll feel like you are right behind the protagonist, Matt Cross in his adventures. My advice, don't predict just purchase and read. You'll be thrilled.Best Sci-fi I've ever read.

By MysteryAddict "Satellite Lost" is a suspenseful, thought-provoking, original work by ancreative author who has firmly established himself in the world of science fiction. This story and his two "Endlight" novels benefit from his technical backgroundin that he presents plausible scenarios based on today's science extrapolatedinto the future. His characters are real and engaging and his scene descriptionsimmerse the reader in the story. "Satellite Lost" is a great read and would alsomake a fine movie.
