The Butcher and The Beast by Sean Michael

Can a pirate and a doctor find love on the seas?

Stephen is a doctor, a practical man who wishes his sister wouldn’t worry so about the pirates that plague their island home. So it’s ironic that Stephen himself is set upon by just those pirates, who carry him off to heal their wounded captain.

John is a pirate captain, master of his fate and used to getting what he wants. And he decides he wants Stephen, even when the good doctor wants nothing more than to run away from him.

Can the beast convince the doctor who the sailors call the butcher to stay with him?

About Sean Michael

Often referred to as "Space Cowboy" and "Gangsta of Love" while still striving for the moniker of "Maurice," Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organising his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and pursuing the kama sutra by channelling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to ""Chicago"".

A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.

Barring any of that? He'll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.

The Butcher and the Beast, by Sean Michael

Review Laura Baumbach's Review for 'The Butcher and the Beast' by Sean Michael. Kidnapped from his comfortable life and bright future as physician to the local Governor and betrothed to the wealthy man's daughter, a young, straight-laced doctor with few life experiences becomes the prisoner of a wounded pirate captain. Duped into tending the wounded pirate until the man is ''done with him'' the naive doctor becomes the captive object of the uncouth, but attractive man's intimate affections. The doctor, or 'Butcher', as the captain and crew of the pirate vessel refer to him, is appalled and offended at first, and fights the domineering, but still alluring, captain tooth and nail. His feisty, but fruitless efforts only make him more appealing to the Beast, as the doctor dubs him, who has a fondness for a challenge. The Beast is used to taking what he wants when he wants it, but this time, he is clever enough to draw his new conquest to him by using the doctor's own newly awakening desires. Despite his partially successful attempt to force the pirate to release him at sword point, the young doctor still can't keep himself from tending the wound he inflicted on the Beast himself, further entrancing the pirate. Over time, gradually undone by the Beast's insistent, pleasurable touches, convincing words, and his own budding sexual needs, the Butcher grows to enjoy and desire the frequent sexual advances until he finds he has fallen in love with the Beast. Sean Michael's ''The Butcher and the Beast'' captures the rough and dangerous times, weaving threads of life at sea as a pirate through a gloriously enticing tale of seduction and desire. The intimate scenes were fresh and convincing, blending a mix of experienced sexuality and strength with naive desire and awed self-discovery. This is a hot, satisfying, unconventional love story wrapped in a rough and tumble pirate tale. I'll enjoy reading this one again and again.

By Sinfully Historical pirates out on the high seas - not Sean Michael's usually setting for a story, but I guess he is trying something new. Stephen Grey is a mild-mannered, very upper-class doctor who gets abducted by pirates who insist that he has to heal their captain. Not what Stephen was looking for when he went for a simple walk to get free of his sister...who had been nagging him of all things, about the dangers of pirates. Stephen is in a dicey situation - You know if I die, so do you - and it not sure how to handle the man he is supposed to heal, or the stench from the boat.In all fairness, Stephen was prepared to get the bullets out of the captain but he thought to secure his passage home by doing so. Unfortunately he should have been a bit more careful with the way he worded his request. The Captain was prepared to honor his word, but he was also pedantic about what Stephen had said.Make sure you pay attention to what you are agreeing to.There is a suggestion of dubious consent in this book and if this is something that is not to your liking, then you should probably flag this one away. But, in between Grey's horror and the Captain's amusement at his ways, there is a slow growing connection. The author has captured the historical nuances perfectly - the idea of two men being together being the work of the devil, the way Stephen fought with everything he had and how it took more than three weeks before he understood he had a place on the ship and with the Captain.I am an avid fan of Sean Michaels but I have to admit this was not one of my favorite books. I am not keen on historical stories - speech, dress and mannerisms of past times don't really appeal to me. But that is a personal preference. The story itself was sexy, powerful and in total keeping with the time period. There were a couple of times when I thought that Stephen acted more like a female virgin than a male one, but then Sean would twist the story yet again and Stephen's masculinity was assured. There are no flowery speeches of love and true devotion, the Captain was all about ownership and making deals. But overall this was a good book, totally hot in so many ways - I just wish Sean hadn't mentioned the stench. That put me off a bit - I have a vivid imagination.Favorite Quote: It was enough.Reviewed by Liza for Sinfully ...Addicted To All Romance

Thanks to Mychael Black for the advice. It is a short novel (for me, all under the 200 pages is short...) but very intensive. A story of seduction, of passion that win over conventions. And old story indeed, like those of Rodolfo Valentino in the role of the Sheick, when he seduced a maiden. Here we have a Pirate, a strong, old style pirate, that prefer men over women, that like a bit of rough over gentleness. But also we have a Pirate that, when the butcher's love is give freely, become the true lover. And the Butcher is an debauche angel, a man that never has experience love nor passion, and suddendly he find first passion and later on love.

That was until the day he was abducted by two burly men to help their captain. Against his will, Stephen is taken aboard a pirate ship to heal a fearsome man. John takes what he wants and what he wants is Stephen. Come Hell or high water he will show Stephen just how much he can let go and find happiness on his ship. Can Stephen find a way to return to his life? Does he truly want to?This story is a charming read. I enjoyed watching the two men work through everything. They soon find themselves in a blooming relationship. Stephen is prim and proper yet he is drawn to John. The captain may be uncivilized but Stephen cannot stop the pull he has on him. The sparks are their between them if only he could let go. It was nice to see Stephen find his way and deal with what life has thrown at him. The bantering between Stephen and John made for a nice read. Even though he is a pirate John is a good man at heart and protects those that he cares for. Love can come out of nowhere and when you least expect it. Stephen learns this lesson the hard way. This is an engaging read that brings us a hot but sweet story about finding and keeping love. These two men are great together and watching their story unfold was a nice read.originally posted at long and short reviews
