1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. "Feel Good" Historical Novel By Kathleen Groom I enjoy historical fiction, especially when the story takes place close to home. Turquoise Summer hits the mark! Set in Grand Lake, Colorado, right after World War II, the story is filled with nostalgia as well as insight as to what it was like for mid-western Americans to readjust to normal life. So many subtle nods to a time gone by, including unaccompanied horseback rides around the lake and separate living quarters for the African-American maid, Alma (secretly my favorite character). I found the characters lovable and the story line delightful. I'm looking forward to a sequel.
