Saint Forester's Military Sanitarium, a post-WWI hospital for wounded and diseased veterans, stands at the corner of despair and oblivion. Staffed by a myriad of uncaring, mechanical doctors and nurses, the hospital is no place for rehabilitation - it is little more than some place for the one-time-soldiers to slowly and monotonously live out the rest of their days. Little Glass Men gives a look at the bleak day-to-day existance of several of the patients and staff at Saint Forester's. You'll meet Lombardi, the Italian with a crippled body but burning spirit. If you're fortunate perhaps you'll avoid Norman, whose grip on reality splinters further with each passing day. Garrett is about due for a visit from someone; his family certainly won't be in to check on the gaping hole where one of his lungs used to be. But of course, to see him would be to neglect another, and there's certainly no shortage of unfortunate, forgotten souls at this particular hospital...

By Amazon Customer A beautifully told story of love, honor, fear and redemption in the face of lives destroyed by surviving the Great War. If this is the first novel from Mr Walsh, I cannot wait to read what he's got up his sleeve (and imagination) next!! Well Done!

Zipperman This is an amazing journey through the halls of a post WW-I sanitarium. Characters are well developed, with surprises laid throughout the plot line. A remarkable first work! The story line kept my interest, which is more than I can say for many works from famous authors. Well worth the price. Hope the author continues to publish his work. I would like to watch his abilities grow, as he becomes an acknowledged professional writer. There is no doubt that he has the ability, if he continues to work to develop his skills! Bravo!

By Trudy Simas We've all began to enjoy something new when a friend claims to have known about it 'before it was popular'... well, this is your chance to be that friend and mean it when you claim to have read Conor Walsh before he was discovered.Through the vivid perspectives of abandoned war veterans and their caretakers, the story's characters live far beyond the bound's of their stories. An enjoyable read that left me wishing for more. Highly recommend.

Archie Dexter is a hedonistic young man, in trouble since the day he was born but now given one final chance of redemption, he is assigned to the staff of Admiral Horatio Nelson no less. In the dangerous days of 1798 he finds himself alone and trapped in Egypt following Napoleon’s invasion. Somehow he will survive to play a pivotal role in Nelson’s famous victory at the Battle of the Nile. Wounded and thrown into captivity it will be many years before he returns to London where as a member of a secretive department of the Aliens Office, Archie battles the increasingly violent French agents plotting and murdering their way across the capital. Together with an oddball assortment of comrades Archie must travel to Spain on a vital mission to rescue an invaluable British spy, the one man capable of enabling Pitt’s government to secure an alliance with any chance of defeating Napoleon. However it is on the streets of London that he will face his sternest test, where failure will force him to choose between the life of his those dearest to him and the King of England himself. Archibald Dexter is a reluctant hero caught up in the turbulent times of the Napoleonic Wars. An Agent of the King is a fast paced, gritty and exciting action thriller that takes the reader on a roller coaster ride through North Africa and Europe via the bordellos, slums and ballrooms of Georgian London.

5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Need more from Nigel Slater By Ed Moorman This is the first historical fiction novel that I am aware of from Nigel Slater, a chef and the author of many cook books sold be Amazon. It is set in the time of Lord Nelson, 1798. The main character, hopefully of a series, is Archibald Fitzwilliam Lewis Dexter. He is an agent for a clandestine British organization, who is posing as a surplus staff officer in Lord Nelson' fleet just before the British victory over the French in Egypt.Naturally, Archie Dexter is involved in giving Nelson an assist, all the while tracking French spies. This carries him back to England and the hunt for the spy network there. Archie is wounded, of course, and must also escape the clutches of the fair, and unmarried, Cordelia Hendricks, who wants to thank him "properly" for rescuing her.The plot is well thought out and moves along nicely. It is without those slow spots that make you wonder if the author really had the plot thought out before he started. Nigel Slater's "An Agent of the King" has everything you want in the start of a series, a likable hero, spy and counterspy action, a little bloodshed and a girl who is looking to catch and marry our spunky hero. Maybe in later books, we'll meet the real woman of his life.I enjoy books of this genre, so once I started, I had a hard time putting it down. Too bad one has to work. It's an excellent read and the price is right. To Nigel: Don't use the excuse you have to cook. Sit right down at your computer and get pecking out the next in the Agent of the King series.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great E-Book By jack0451 If you need help (like I did when it came to table topics), this e-book is for you. What is table topics? A one to two minute impromptu speech. Most people don't realize this but we face "table topics" situations everyday. The book gives great ideas on how to answer table topics effectively and it even gives you ideas of what kind of table topics questions you can ask yourself for your next Toastmasters meeting. I would highly recomind it to anyone who is part of Toastmasters (or working in general) to improve their impromptu speaking.

Review "Stevie Kopas is one of the most engaging and powerful emerging voices in apocalyptic fiction today. She's a master at luring in readers with nail biting plot twists and intriguing characters. Her descriptions will leave you chilled to the bone and begging for more!"  --Devan Sagliani, author of UNDEAD L.A. and ZOMBIE ATTACK!   "ALL GOOD THINGS reminds you why the phrase "page turner" was coined. Structured like so many forgettable horror-thriller novels of the 80s, with both prologue and epilogue, ALL GOOD THINGS is anything but forgettable. The pacing just might lead you to a few paper cuts--and you won't care. This is a good, good, good one."  --Mort Castle, Bram Stoker, Black Quill, and Golden Bot award winner, Nominee for International Horror Guild, Shirley Jackson, and Audie awards, Author of New Moon on the Water and editor of Writer's Digest Annotated Classics: Dracula.

About the Author Stevie Kopas was born and raised in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. She is a gamer, a writer and an apocalypse enthusiast. Stevie will never turn down a good cup of coffee and might even be a bit of a caffeine addict.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. ... of The Breadwinner series and wow was it a great one! This is one of the few series ... By Ashley Tomlinson This is the third installment of The Breadwinner series and wow was it a great one! This is one of the few series that didn't falter with each book, I usually start to dislike books the more in the series I get. Thankfully not with this series, it was freaking awesome!I swear this is liking reading a Walking Dead episode or season. The first book was more about surviving the zombies and it's been less and less about the undead with each book. This one was more about trying to escape the meth addicts than the undead. Again, that's every zombie filled series. Unless the zombies find a way to evolve like in Resident Evil. Yes I watch and read a lot about zombies - a girl needs to prepare herself just in case, right?I wanted to punch Michelle in the face with a chair! That was one crazy evil girl that deserved what happened to her. She killed people without a care in the world, even enjoyed it. I was very, VERY upset at some of the deaths in this book. I think Stevie Kopas just knew how much these characters meant to me, so she snatched them away - that's an author for ya.Veronica is a tough chick and I can only hope I would be that strong. I would be fine with a fraction of her courage to be honest. I'm glad Kopas made her such a strong character, especially considering she was the youngest. Normally, they would be the weak ones that cry in a corner until they run away screaming and get themselves killed.I actually liked the ending! I was upset so many of my beloved characters didn't make it but I'm happy with how it all turned out. I especially loved the epilogue - teehee you'll have to read it to find out why. I thought this was a good way to end the trilogy. Though I wouldn't be upset to read more about Veronica and Clyde ... hint hint Stevie Kopas.I flew through all of these books in a matter of hours. They were so good that I really didn't want to put them down - I'm glad I started reading them on a Saturday so I life didn't interrupt my reading. I highly recommend this whole series for all the zombie lovers out there.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. I liked that these survivors had more to fear from each other than from the "eaters" as the author refers to her undead. By Frank Errington eview copyIt's often said that the third time's the charm. The old adage has never been truer than in the final book in The Breadwinner Trilogy. When I read book 1, The Breadwinner, a few months ago, I was not overly complimentary. Things improved with book 2 Haven, and here we are, at the end of the series, with All Good Things. This was one of the best zombie books I've read in recent memory. Elevating my overall opinion of the series to the point where this is what you really should be reading to get over your zombie withdrawal while The Walking Dead is on hiatus. All Good Things begins with the death of a principal character, an event that actually occurred at the end of book 2, but the fallout intensifies here. One of the things I really like about The Breadwinner Trilogy is that, although there are zombies and plenty of gore, it's really about the complex relationships of our little group of survivors. "...the small group locked away in Emerald City had found some sort of solace in one another. They'd found some remnant of normalcy in the things they did together to fill their time. No matter how insignificant it all seemed, there were plenty of reasons they gave one another to keep living."In All Good Things I found the characters to be more fully developed, displaying real feelings and raw emotions. I also realized they had more to fear from each other than from the "eaters" as the author refers to her undead.I'm happy to say there are several OMG moments in this book as Kopas does not hold back at all. No spoilers, but I can say the reader should expect the unexpected in this very satisfying conclusion to The Breadwinner Trilolgy. All Good Things is available now as an ebook from Permuted Press, through Amazon.com, and will be in paperback soon.Strongly recommended. Get the entire series and spend some quality time with the undead.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. The characters are fallible and believable all the way to the end! By Reader's Hollow Kopas upped the intensity in this one. There's more action, drama, but with (a few of) the same awesome characters. Just like the previous books, you can never predict who will make it and who won't. The second the reader thinks they might know what will happen next, the author likes to side-swipe them.I won't spoiler this for you but there's a certain character who has gotten away with far too much for far too long and it was satisfying to see how that person was served justice. In this new world order there aren't laws to abide by and how people deal with revenge is far more brutal -- and interesting. The zombie action scenes were well done. They were fast, easy to read scenes that moved along at the same quick pace as the rest of the story.I really liked the epilogue, which occurred after the Acknowledgements. It was like that special preview at the end of a movie after the credits.CONCLUSION:I can sit back satisfied with how everything turned out. Is it an ideal future for all of the characters? Not so much but I think that was the story's appeal to me, the unpredictability. The characters are individuals, which I really like when an author can pull that off. None fell flat for me and they each made mistakes being both believable and fallible.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. I always love a good culture conflict with worthwhile people in the ... By Lynda Williams I've been waiting for this book for years, after seeing half of an early draft by fellow writer Rebecca Bradley. Her depiction of a hunter-gatherer culture savaged by plague due to contact with an early agricultural civilisation has a realism that does justice to her academic background plain. Her story-telling skills and grasp of character make you feel you are living it with the heroes. I always love a good culture conflict with worthwhile people in the middle of it trying to make human sense of inhuman tragedy.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A good read! By Ellen I confess I like dawn of the world sagas, and this a good one. It catches your attention early, and keeps you anxious about the good guys, right to the end. You like the main characters, even when they're a bit on the evil side! It does get a bit...gory at times, but even that fits in with the background setting. And, it sets up Book 2, which means I'll have to shell out again to find out how things turn out, but that's not a bad thing. I like series books too!

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A great read By Johnny P I whistled through this book, testament to the writing and the pacing in Bradley's first in hopefully further installments. Bradley is a good writer. You can easily say that and have the sentence passed over as a mere generalised statement. But I mean it. She writes very well, characterising with aplomb, nailing the point of views of each person in the story and giving you something on every page.Bradley has a history in, well, history (of the ancient kind) with her background in archaeology. This shines through with her hypothesising of rituals, events, clothing, language, culture etc. This adds to what is a rich tapestry of storytelling, interspersed with some dry humour, which keeps you turning the pages breezily because those ideas and nuggets are interwoven seamlessly. There are some fascinating elements of early religious thought and criticism as the societies of the established culture comes into clash with the People, the wondering hunter gatherers which certainly piqued my interest. In sum, it is a darkly funny clash of ancient cultures and I hope Bradley continues to write further stories in what could be a great series.

WWII is ending -

PFC Adair's adventures are just beginning

Over There is the story of young Jimmy Adair, a PFC who reaches Europe in the waning days of World War Two. He is just in time to help the "Monuments Men" find some of the most famous works of art in the history of the world, art that is now Nazi spoils of war. Jimmy is assigned as the driver to Lt. Alan West, an American art historian, and his French colleague, Olivette Normandin. Their journeys take them across war-torn Germany and into Austria seeking artwork hidden in salt mines and castles. Along the way, they bear witness to a newly liberated concentration camp, help solve the murder of a U.S. Army officer, and see the Alps from Hitler's Eagle's Nest.

Between them and with the theater of war as a backdrop, West and Olivette teach Jimmy much about art, good and evil, compassion, and survival. In this classic coming of age story, Jimmy aspires to the wisdom he sees in his elders, while seeking to understand the brutality and venality of others he meets - American liberators, Nazi camp guards, and refugees torn from homes across Europe.

In the end, Jimmy returns home but never completely leaves behind the last days of the war. It is as if he had been baptized, immersed in that other world. That world has stayed in his memory, fresh as his admiration for West and Olivette. Many years later, Jimmy receives a surprise visit that helps him make sense of that other world and his wartime friendships.

The book is incredibly well written, holds your interest and makes you think ! Thought provoking and the imagery makes one believe they are there with the characters. Two thumbs up !
