An Omega’s Heart by Amber Kell

Book two in the The Under Wolves series

When everything is lost, the only thing left to fight for is love.

Conley Elnon has been abused most of his life. He agrees to help the War Council in uncovering a vampire mole in exchange for having the opportunity to find his family. When he meets his mate Jacob, he leaves him in order to track a mad bomber intent on taking out shifter camps.

Jacob refuses to let his mate escape. He’s waited too long to find his fated mate to let him leave before he’s had a chance to say little more than hello. When he finds his mate in the middle of vampire territory, Jacob has to use all his skills to help his mate figure out the truth between vampires and shifters and how they are responsible for what happened to Conley’s family.

The Under Wolves series

War is brewing with the vampires and the werewolves need to eradicate them all or be destroyed. The undead despise werekin and have no problem sucking them dry and tossing aside their corpses. Finding their mates make the werekin stronger but what happens when their mates aren't Alphas?

Under Wolves. What happens when the Alphas are not necessarily the ones in charge? Gammas and Omegas might be submissive in life but when love comes along, they will do whatever necessary to protect the ones they've claimed for themselves.

About Amber Kell

Amber Kell has made a career out of daydreaming. It has been a lifelong habit she practices diligently as shown by her complete lack of focus on anything not related to her fantasy world building.

When she told her husband what she wanted to do with her life he told her to go have fun.

During those seconds she isn't writing she remembers she has children who humor her with games of 'what if' and let her drag them to foreign lands to gather inspiration. Her youngest confided in her that he wants to write because he longs for a website and an author name—two things apparently necessary to be a proper writer.

Despite her husband's insistence she doesn't drink enough to be a true literary genius she continues to spin stories of people falling happily in love and staying that way.

She is thwarted during the day by a traffic jam of cats on the stairway and a puppy who insists on walks, but she bravely perseveres.

Although you could read this by itself, I feel book one needs to be read to understand what is going on into book two, but different characters are highlighted here.We have a war raging between the vampires and the wolf shifters. Conley is an Omega wolf shifter working undercover for the War Council to flesh out a mole among the wolf shifter camps. His family was taken by the vampires and he wants to find them. His father is somehow involved he knows it. While picking up the pieces after the latest attack, he meets Jacob. Very quickly he realizes that Jacob is his fated mate, and he is overjoyed! But he is hot on the trail of the mole, so he leaves Jacob, not wanting any harm to come to him. There will be a time for him later.Jacob only dreamed of finding a fated mate-those crafted by the heavens. Others wolves take a mate because they like them, not ever being their true fated mate. Jacob has waited so long to hopefully find his mate, and when he does he is not going to let him out of his sight! When Conley rushes off tracking the mole, he follows, unbeknownst to Conley. Deep in vampire territory, things get cagey, and Jacob helps his mate. Now that they are together, they try to piece together what is going on between the Vamps and Wolves.I have to say I enjoyed this next chapter in this series more than the first. Jacob is so ecstatic to find his mate and it shows! The instant love and loyalty is so sweet! The buildup is good, there's steamy action scenes, and has a great plotline! There is a great chemistry between Conley and Jacob, and their joking around- I am loving it! We are introduced to a few more wolves so the next books will feature them. I am looking forward to what the next chapter holds!!3.5 stars/3 flamesI was given this book by the Jeep Diva for the express purpose of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.

By Sinfully Conley lives in a confusing world - well, a little confusing to the reader at first glance. This is book 2 in the series, and I haven't read book 1 so I am not sure if it would have made a difference if I had. Conley is on a job for the War Council - he's a shifter and the war is between shifters and vampires. Vampires had taken Conley's mother and younger brother (Van) and after his father had punched him and left him to die in a burning house, apparently Conley had decided the war had taken a personal turn, for him at least.Conley is after a man called Denel, but Conley destroyed his cover by saving Kaden from someone else called Greg. Denel holds the key to where Conley's mother and brother might be held. In the middle of all his confusion, Conley meets a beta wolf, Jacob, who turns out to be his mate. Not what he was looking for. It didn't matter if the guy was built and gorgeous, Conley was busy. In the words of the author "He couldn't afford to be sidetracked".The vampires in this book are not the pretty creatures seen in other books. In fact they sound like something out of a horror movie. I have always loved how Ms. Kell describes her characters and the vampires sound positively yuck. But then they are the bad guys in this story, so it's to be expected. Conley's just taken out a vampire when Jacob turns up - seems the man hadn't taken Conley's original rejection personally, which for Conley was a good thing. Jacob has some rather funny ideas about keeping Conley safe - this tickled me: “He'd walk behind Conley with a giant safety net for the rest of their lives if it would protect his reckless mate."The two men do eventually get down to the claiming their mate side of things, but they go through a lot of hassle to get there. I'm not going to give away any more of the story line, but suffice to say it involves power crazy Alphas, more vampires and Conley's family.I really wanted to love this book - I adore shifters. But I am guessing this book is not meant to be read as a standalone. I love Amber Kell's writing - her descriptions of characters in particular, and there were more than a few places where I laughed at the dialogue. Conley is very sassy for an Omega wolf. But for me, there was just something missing - the confusion of all the characters at the beginning - most of whom weren't explained by the end of the story, and the abrupt ending made me think that if this book had been twice as long, it would have been more than doubly good.If you are a fan of gruesome vampires, more than a little violence, and sassy Omegas, then you will enjoy this book. As for me, I am going to hunt out book one of the series, because I seriously think I need to read that one first.

An Omega's Heart (and some horrifying vampires too) By Debra E 3.5 starsI haven’t read the first book in this series, but this one follows different main characters and while it seems to pick up in the middle of an event from the first, the continuing storyline was recapped enough so I didn’t feel lost.Conley is an omega wolf working undercover for the War Council to find out who is causing trouble in the war camps and determine if that person has allied with the vampires in their war with the wolves. Conley’s father is allied with the vampires and his mother and brother have been abducted. In the midst of all this he is approached by Jacob, a beta wolf who just happens to be Conley’s fated mate. While Conley doesn’t want to deny his mate, he cannot rest until he finds his family so he runs off. That doesn’t deter Jacob who is determined to protect his newly found mate. This novella packed a lot of story into it. There is action, romance, hot sex, humor and evil, ugly, bloodthirsty vampires. I enjoyed the interactions between Conley and Jacob. Being an omega, Conley is supposed to be a smaller weaker wolf, but Jacob sees him in action and admires his strength, wit and loyalty. Jacob is still fiercely protective, but realizes they are stronger together when they are placed in near inescapable danger. The men have great chemistry and their banter made me smile. This was actually my first Amber Kell book and it left me wishing it was a bit longer because I was enjoying it so much. There were a few secondary characters whose story I would like to see told and I’m looking forward to reading more in the series.A copy of this book was provided by the publisher for an honest review.
