About the Author A graduate of Texas A & M University and a teacher for many years, Donna Hechler Porter now homeschools her teenage boys. She is a member of Romance Writers of America and RWA's Hearts Through History Chapter. She has published four genealogy books on her family history and is currently working on a fifth. Her first novel, Keeping Secrets, the first book in the Children of the Light Series, won the 2013 RWA Indiana Golden Opportunity Contest for Best Historical Fiction, was a finalist in the 2014 RWA Las Vegas I Heart Indie Contest for Best Front and Back Cover, placed 4th in Oklahoma RWA's 2014 International Digital Awards in Historical Fiction, and was nominated for a RONE Award. Waiting anxiously for number three! Thank you so much, Mrs. Porter for a great read! Can't wait to see what else you have in store for us!

These books are so far from my usual genre, but I have absolutely fallen in love with these characters. I feel their joys, sorrows, fears and triumphs. Impatiently awaiting the next chapter in their lives!

David & Annie, part 1 By Lesia Chambliss Again Donna Hechler Porter brings us a uniquely written story, this time about David Cayle & Annie McKechnie. They have been fighting their attraction for each other since their parents wed. This story will take you on another journey, this one into the dangerous back country, where danger and their mutual love will bring them closer. The author does a wonderful job of keeping to the time period and their way of speaking. This story picks up pretty much where it left off in book 1. Don't let the ending of this book make you too angry, because book 3 is ready to finish David & Annie's story. Although these are stand alone books, I recommend reading them in order to get the full history.
