About the Author Olja Savicevic is an awarded poet and novelist, who burst onto the authorial stage with her short story collection Make the Dog Laugh in 2006. Last year, her collection of poems Mamasafari and Other Things was short-listed for the 'Kiklop Award for Best Collection of 2012', awarded annually by the Pula Book Fair. Her best-selling book Farewell, Cowboy has already achieved great success in the region, and was even adapted into a stage play. The book will be translated by Celia Hawkesworth and published by Istros Books in 2015.

By Peter Anastas This is a beautiful novel about coming of age in Croatia after the break-up of Yugoslavia, showing the impact and influence of American movies and music on post-communist youth. It is told with a vernacular freshness and an often heart-breaking poignancy.

Had read very good reviews of it, but I felt it was a disjointed story about very little. Learnt nothing about Croatian society. I thought there would be more substance to it. Even the language left me cold. Overall struggled to finish a small book.
