The book is exceptionally helpful and instructive By Alex Fernandez The book is exceptionally helpful and instructive, I imagine that everybody need to peruse this book for general training. The main book, which recounts the account of the money related emergency and the fact of the matter is extremely significant, since we are living in exceptionally dubious times. The book unmistakably clarify how the component of the emergency and what to do to everybody, if that happened, actually to make due in such conditions.This book was elegantly composed and can be effortlessly caught on. Each page of this book merits perusing for. I took in a considerable measure. I exceedingly prescribe this book for everybody.

The first book, which tells the story of the financial crisis and the reality is very relevant, since we are living in very uncertain times. The book clearly explain how the mechanism of the crisis and what to do to everyone, if that happened, literally to survive in such conditions. The second book is also very entertaining, talks about interesting things, very new for me, the idea of property, but it will take a mental note to read was interesting edge.

Great guide in PHP By Sabrina Walters As an Information Technology (IT) wannabe like me the hardest programming word for me is PHP it is not as simple as C++ and Visual Basic. It is more complex and complicated codes and it really is difficult to fathom at first especially now that technology develops every single day. I love this book because it is very easy to understand unlike the programming books I have at home. Also, this book includes not just PHP basics but also the terminologies that a programmer should know of. Thanks to this book I am now more knowledgeable with PHP programming and in no time I’ll be expert on this!

This is an amazing introduction to the PHP language, it's written clearly and simply and explained very well. I think Alan did an outstanding job of explaining the basics of PHP and how to get started using it. This is a great choice for both a novice, like me, or for someone who already does programming and wants to pick up PHP.

By Martin Asiner It is tempting to read THE FALL OF THE RUSSIAN EMPIRE in the light of the events after 1991 when Boris Yeltsin stood on a Russian tank to address the troops who were sent to arrest him but instead followed him in ousting a seven decade old communist dictatorship. The 'fall' of the novel occurs in 1986, unlike its real life counterpart of 1991. Yet the difference between the fictional fall and the actual fall was one more of degree than of kind. In hindsight, it now seems obvious that the former Soviet Union was ripe for a fall. Donald James raises a number of issues that early in the novel suggest this fall was imminent. James notes a fact that may have been surprising to one who was unfamiliar with Russian history and geography: "At the root of the looming problems was the simple fact that the Soviet Union was an empire comprising fifteen totally different nations, one hundred languages, a racial spectrum from Slav to Mongol." James sets the background of his novel by drawing a comparison between the disunity of the Soviet people with the disunity of the Soviet Army: "By the early 1980's all but the first rank of Soviet Army divisions were riddled with racial tensions." Into this cauldron of oil and water, James introduces his major characters: Zoya Densky, who flits in and out of the action and supplies first hand limited view perspective; Natalya Roginova, the leader of the Soviet Union before she is ousted in a coup; Semyon Kuba, who follows Roginova as a Stalin wanna-be First Secretary and Absolute Leader of Russia; and Bubo, the penal convict who escapes the gulag to lead an army of penals to the very gates of Moscow with the intention of burning down the capital. There is no 'hero' in the traditional sense of a novel's dramatic center. Each of the main characters has his moments on stage and either reacts to events beyond his control, as Zoya Densky does, or acts to try to contain the uncontainable fury of the penal army as both Kuba and Bubo do. Along the way, the reader learns a great deal about the inner rot that comprised the heart of the Communist Party. By the novel's end, Kuba has only one option to retain his quickly dissipating hold on power. He tries a mass purge of murder and arrest for all those of the Politburo and Central Committee who threaten to balk his plans to control Russia, but he is too late. He himself is removed in a coup which restores Natalya Roginova to power. Kuba seems not surprised at his fate: "Try as he might, he could not imagine where he had gone wrong, or how Joseph Vissarionovich might have done better." James accurately portrays how a great country was lead astray by a clique of power hungry radicals in 1917 and how those same radicals bled that nation of pride, power, and respect. Perhaps there is a lesson for the current center of Russian leadership: the infinite capacity of the Russian people to sacrifice for the common good is matched only by an equal capacity for anger when they see that their sacrifices have been in vain.

Amazingly Prophetic Work By Gary Selikow I would guess that not since the works of Aldous Huxely and George Orwell has a novel been so prophetic.Of course some of the details were not correct in this 1982 novel -written the year of Brezhnev's death- but so much of it was to come true.The decisive years in the novel were 1980 to 1985 while in reality the decisive events that finally cracked the Soviet monolith took place from 1985 to 1991.A member of the old guard is elected after Brezhenev ,but just like Andropov and Chernenko, die within roughly a year of assuming office.There is a struggle between hardliners and reformists led by a female Gorbachev figure.Eventually the fate of the Soviet Empire is decided in a dramatic standoff in Moscow between the people of Moscow and troops loyal to the hardline Communists-chillingly like the events of August 1991-leading to the collapse of the communist monster.One by one the Soviet Republics secsede from the Union as was to really happen.The hardliners-including the KGB -conspire to stall reform but fail.A look into the heart of the communist tyranny reveals what was going on when the book was written,at a time when those on the left in the west were denying these horrors.The Free Trade Union movement mirrors Solidarity in Poland and the passions of nationalism in the Soviet colonies and in Russia itself are depictedThe book is an epic in itself with suspense,love ,hate,horror and all the ingredients of a good novel. It centers around several characters inlcuding the young and lovely Zoya Densky who symbolizes the new generation that would in fact overthrow despotism in Russia and Eastern Europe,an American diplomat and his wife;Letsukov-a Ukrainian KGB agent who turns and helps the overthrow of the Russian Empire;Igor Bukansky-a journalist who has betrayed his principals but when he finally stands up to the government is destroyed together with his lover, the sensual but tragic Lydia Petrovna-the mother of the narrator of this story. Amazingly prophetic work By A Customer I would guess that not since the works of Aldous Huxely and George Orwell has a novel been so prophetic.Of course some of the details were not correct in this 1982 novel -written the year of Brezhnev's death- but so much of it was to come true.The decisive years in the novel were 1980 to 1985 while in reality the decisive events that finally cracked the Soviet monolith took place from 1985 to 1991.A member of the old guard is elected after Brezhenev ,but just like Andropov and Chernenko, die within roughly a year of assuming office.There is a struggle between hardliners and reformists led by a female Gorbachev figure.Eventually the fate of the Soviet Empire is decided in a dramatic standoff in Moscow between the people of Moscow and troops loyal to the harline Communists-chillingly like the events of August 1991-leading to the collapse of the communist monster.One by one the Soviet Republics secsede from the Union as was to really happen.The hardliners-including the KGB -conspire to stall reform but fail.A look into the heart of the communist tyranny reveals what was going on when the book was written,at a time when those on the left in the west were denying these horrors.The Free Trade Union movement mirrors Solidarity in Poland and the passions of nationalism in the Soviet colonies and in Russia itself are depictedThe book is an epic in itself with suspense,love ,hate,horror and all the ingredients of a good novel. It centers around several characters inlcuding the young and lovely Zoya Densky who symbolizes the new generation that would in fact overthrow despotism in Russia and Eastern Europe,an American diplomat and his wife;Letsukov-a Ukrainian KGB agent who turns and helps the overthrow of the Russian Empire;Igor Bukansky-a journalist who has betrayed his principals but when he finally stands up to the government is destroyed and his lover the sensual but tragic Lydia Petrovna-the mother of the narrator of this story. 11 of 11 people found the following review helpful. A "How To" Book I Could Not Put Down By Linda Lochridge This was a "How To" book I could not put down. I have worked on a memoir for years and made many starts and stops. I must confess that Brooke and I worked on getting my story down on paper over the last year, and I took several memoir workshops from Brooke and Linda Joy Myers. I learned so much in their workshops, but it wasn't until I read "Breaking Ground on Your Memoir" that all the missing pieces fell into place.Chapter 1 helped me remember that although I am writing about memories, they actually took place somewhere...and that place needs to be described so the reader can picture the scene.Chapter two offers many options of how to "frame" your memoir. It could be linear, or be framed. In a framed memoir you still move through time in a linear fashion but use flashback and memory to move the reader through your history.Chapter three helps you understand your role as, not only the author of the memoir, but also the protagonist, and how to get your reader to understand your place in the story as well as the place of the other characters you write about.In Chapter four, Brooke and Linda discuss the craft of writing the memoir...the writing of scenes. One thing I did not understand until I took their workshops and especially as I read this book was how the characters in my story need to develop as the memoir unfolds. I am not just including them as props for my own story...they change and grow as we all do in life. Chapter five was one of my favorites. Brooke and Linda discuss how, once your first draft is complete (which is what I worked on with Brooke as a writing coach) it is now time to go back and add "extra nuances," such as sensual details, honing your craft by transcribing what great writers have written, using dialogue, metaphor, simile, and analogy, and the use of "through threads." It was a relief to realize that now that I had the bones down I could go back and really make my memoir shine. Thanks Brooke and Linda! This is my favorite book on writing.

This book will take you to a completed manuscript if you listen and follow By Amazon Customer I am happy to review this book as it took me beyond a troubling impasse in my memoir writing. I read Brooke's first book and found a general foundation for my book. But this book took me to where I really believed I had a story to tell. I had discovered for myself that the drafts are like layers, each zeroing in more and more to the story. Brooke and Linda beautifully confirmed that for me. The most helpful part of the book for me were the chapters about including flashbacks, narration, and reflection to fill out the story. In addition, they reminded me that I must have place and time well described and must include the emotional lives of my characters. So far, before reading the book, I had skeleton chapters, trying to see what the story was about. With the help of this book, I now have a detailed outline with the flashbacks, reflections, and narrations on time and place included. The story is richer and I am more confident to continue. I am planning to ask Brooke to critique my book proposal when I have it completed. Did I mention that there is not a book for memoirists like this out there? I looked.

Rodriguez Although I've written other books, my first attempt at writing a memoir was met with a bit of trepidation. Using the book, Breaking Ground on Your Memoir, has been a gift. Brooke and Linda Joy share their considerable experience in practical ways that can be applied immediately to my memoir. I am also taking their class so both the book and class are complements to one another. Craft and story are important to me because I value the reader. The authors cover issues of craft that I would otherwise not be aware of. They also address the emotional aspects of writing a personal narrative and how emotion can generate better writing. Sometimes we fear sharing these emotions but in the sharing of our stories, emotion included, we are able to connect to others who may share similar stories as well as evoke those feelings inherent in our human condition. I am grateful to the authors for providing such a useful guide to memoir writers.

Hervey #12 By Manly Reading I must be mellowing in my dotage, since some volumes ago the lack of action caused me no little angst, whereas now I find myself almost appreciating the picture drawn of England in 1830 as Hervey navigates the issues of command of a regiment and neglect of his family. On the up side too, we see something of Captain Peto, who promptly steals every scene he is in: and perhaps a little happiness is coming his way at last. If nothing else, I could forgive a lot due to that alone, since Peto is perhaps - along with Fairbrother - the best man appearing in the Hervey series. As I've said before, I'd prefer to have read another nautical series with Peto the hero, but Mr Mallinson writes of what he knows, a cavalry regiment, and there is some little value in that also.Early Hervey volumes were described as "a cavalry Sharpe" - and that may have been true then, but certainly is not now. This is a much loving fictional history of the rural troubles of the winter of 1830, and then of commemorations of Waterloo with yet more civil disturbance (but by foreigners who really don’t know better, rather than by Englishmen). In the end, I enjoy the history enough to let the paucity of battles pass by, but I do have to say that any blurb on the back of the book promising action should be taken with a very large pinch of salt.I don’t know where Hervey goes after this, and to a degree I don’t mind. This is more Austen than Cornwell, but if you can manage that, well recommended.

Crain Allan Mallinson has replaced Patrick O'Brien as my favorite author of historical fiction. His Matthew Hervey series is outstanding- beautifully and intelligently written, nearly flawlessly researched, and vividly descriptive. Interestingly, although there is relatively little "action" in this, his latest installment, I think it may actually be my favorite of the series. Mallinson is not afraid to take us into his character's inner life, and Hervey's is extremely well-drawn. His is a deeper, richer character than most heroes of historical fiction. He sins, and feels remorse that is believable for the son of a cleric. The secondary characters are very well done, also. This is a mature, intelligently written novel, and at the same time, it has enough excitement even for the literary adrenalin fan.Thank you, Brigadier Mallinson! Please send us more!

This is a well written and sensitive story about the daily lives of one intergenerational family living in Dusseldorf, Germany during the difficult years surrounding World War I. The book gives the reader a glimpse of "ordinary" family life as seen through the eyes of a teenager, mother, grandmother, father and grandfather. Each are touched in different ways. The author does a superb job detailing early 20th century German life, interweaving political events with personal sacrifice. I would recommend it to anyone with a passion for historical fiction and a love of learning about the Great War.

A Neglected Perspective on World War One By Dr.B This is an expertly and sensitively written tale about the Home Front in Düsseldorf, Germany, during and immediately after World War I, as experienced by the fictional Kruger family. The story of the roller coaster of emotional and physical hardships of three generations of grandmothers, mothers, and children living together and left behind while their men were wounded or dying on the Western Front reminds the reader of a too often neglected side of the Great War. It is a great read for adults willing to ponder both the greatness and depravity of humanity.

I really enjoyed this step-back-in-time By ToneZone "Love, Secrets and Sacrifices" was a very thought-provoking book which drew me back to days of old. During WW2, the Germans were our enemies but the Kruger family, as depicted during the WW1 setting of this story, seemed like the family living next door. War brings horror on the battlefield and deprivation on the home front. The love of Paul and Hannah and what they endured proved that the spirit of unity and love of family is worth the sacrifices. I really enjoyed this step-back-in-time.
